Team NeighborLink Member Riding Across US
Team NeighborLink member and NeighborLink Fort Wayne board member, Joe Johns, is currently 11 days into his 30 day cross-country bike adventure. Joe is the pastor of missional living at Fellowship Missionary Church in southeast Fort Wayne, and through a generous clergy renewal grant from the Lilly Foundation has been given the opportunity of a lifetime. Joe's grant provides he and his family the opportunity to take a 3 month sabbatical and pursue the things that bring joy. It's truly an honor to receive this grant.
One of Joe's longtime passions has been cycling. After many years off the bike due to not having the time or financial resources due to a growing family, Joe returned to cycling about 4 years ago. Since then, this is his second time across the country, although the first time solo. In 2011, Joe led a team of 8 riders across the country in a team format that brought them 2700 miles in 7 days. That even was call the Race for Congo and was a fundraiser for international relief and development organization, World Relief.
For the entire month of May, Joe will be cross the souther tier route from St Augustine, FL to San Diego, CA. It'll be Joe and his support car driving dad covering an average of 100 miles a day.
