Night Moves Race 5 Details

Team NeighborLink is grateful you’ve decided to participate in Race #5 of the inaugural Night Moves Running Series. Almost 60 of you are registered with 40 of you purchasing tickets in first 36 hours. 100% of the proceeds of this race will go to helping us fund a new furnace for a guy name Robert.

Night Moves will be all of the above with the right amount of security, direction, and organization to make sure every aspect that can be controlled, runs smoothly.

Below are some final details about the event that should give you direction. If you have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can.

Check-In/Start Location: We’ll have a Team NeighborLink table setup inside Wunderkammer Gallery. Please visit this table to check in, sign our waiver, and grab your thank you gift.

Event Timing: Check-In opens at 8:30p, Race Welcome & Final Instructions, 8:55p - Race Starts at 9:05p

Flashlight or Headlamps: You're going to want one or the other for this race due to the darkness of this route. We're running through some neighborhoods and through the park, which has no lights. You're completely safe, but it'll be dark and you'll appreciate the light. You can pick up a headlamp/flashlight for $10 and you really should own either if you don't already.

Post Race Food & Drinks: Bravas will have their food truck fired up ready to serve dogs & patatas to runners after the event. They're discounting everything by $2, so come ready to buy a dog after the run. We'll have some waters, soda, and some NUUN Hydration mix ready for you after the run. BYOB if that's your thing.

Course Details: Race starts in the Wunderkammer parking lot, heads towards & down Rudisill to The Summit. Through the Summit parking lot and towards Foster Park and Southwood Park. We'll loop through the neighborhood, through the park, and work our way back towards Wunderkammer. The total mileage is 4mi

Course Notes: There are a few short off-road sections. Expect a little trail running, but don't worry, it's smooth and wide. There is a tree to hop over on one of them. It's simple to get over, but just so you know. You can bypass that trail if you want, just look for the gravel to the left to get to the foot bridge. We won't have a person shining lights there.

Crossing Broadway to get to Oakdale may be a bit tricky, but hopefully traffic is minimal and won't slow you down that much. Just be careful and if you want to run up Rudisill, go for it. Won't be much more distance.

Course Marking & Direction: There will be no on-course chalk marking on this route due to the extra darkness, the fallen leaves, and the feedback that many of past runners never really saw them as they were running. So, we have about a dozen volunteers that will be on bikes or standing on corners with flashlights. They're goal is to make sure everyone knows where to turn. We'll do our best to not get you lost.

Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be cars and traffic to be aware of and be courteous to. We’ve done our best to choose low-traffic streets, utilize bike lanes where possible, and make sure there are sidewalks for those not up for running in the streets. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.

Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the first male and female runners get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.

Winners: We have fantastic, custom stained glass squares for the winning Male and Female runners. They’re sweet!

Parking: Plenty of parking in Wunderkammer's parking lot or the side streets near the gallery.

Rain Policy: The forecast is looking good. If it changes, we'll run anyway in light rain. In heavy rain, it's just too cold and we'll figure out a way to refund your dollars or transfer registrations to another Night Moves event.

Event Swag: Each runner will get to choose some Team NeighborLink gear (we've got some new socks that are sweet) or one of our cool Love Your Neighbor t-shirts.
