Night Moves Race 8 - Event Details

Tomorrow night is Race #8 of the 2016 Night Moves Running Series. It takes a curious, self-motivated, and adventurous person to volunteer with NeighborLink Fort Wayne, and we’ve learned it takes those same traits to find our Team NeighborLink events exciting and worth trying. Night Moves will be all of the above with the right amount of security, direction, and organization to make sure every aspect that can be controlled, runs smoothly. We're looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Below are some final details about the event that should give you direction. If you have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can. Invite your friends to join you last minute. We still have some space available.

CrossFit WOD: For those wanting to also do the Mad Apple CrossFit WOD, make sure you come to Mad Apple around 7:15p to get a quick run down of the workout, see how the coaches scale the workouts for each person, and be ready to hop in one of the heats. Heats will begin at 7:30p and the last one will start around 8pm. Don't worry, we'll make sure you're ready and get an opportunity to give it a shot.

Event Proceeds: The funds raised from Friday’s race will be used by NeighborLink Fort Wayne to help get a new furnace for a neighbor in need. The Team NL cyclocross team is raising funds for furnace replacements and with winter coming, we want to help as many people as we can.

Check-In/Start Location: The race will be starting from Mad Apple CrossFit. We will meet inside of the main entrance. Please visit this area to check in, pay if you didn't online, sign our waiver, and grab your thank you gift.

Pay Online: You may have signed up but didn’t pay online. You can pay the night of or you can take care of that online here.

Event Timing: CrossFit Wod Check-In (7:15-7:30pm) Night Moves Run Check-In opens at 9:15 PM, Race Welcome & Final Instructions at 9:45 PM, and Race Starts at 10:00 PM

Bathrooms: There will be options at Mad Apple CrossFit.

Sponsors: Mad Apple has been a longtime supporter of Team NeighborLink and we can't wait to join them.  We will be providing some beverages for you to enjoy after your run.

Course Details: We're going to head east from Mad Apple to get on the greenway and run towards Sweeny Park. We'll make a loop around the far park and then back towards the closer park and head off-road into the grassy disc golf areas. We'll exit the backside of the park towards Main St and then head west back to Mad Apple. The course will be 3.8mi and you should plan on running off-road in grass.

Headlamps: The course is 50/50 on well lit. Best to bring a flashlight or headlamp this week.

Course Marking & Direction: We will have volunteers/cyclists with flashing lights at most every turn, pointing you in the right direction. We will also have some flashing blue glow stick stakes marking certain parts of the route to help guide you where we don't have volunteers. You won't get too lost if you do get lost.

Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be cars and traffic to be aware of and be courteous to. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.

Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the first male and female runners get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.

Winners: CrossFit Winners will get custom Blender Bottles and we have custom engraved tools for the run winners. The rest of you get some cool swag, some high fives, and some stories to tell.

Parking: There are parking lots all around Mad Apple's building. Use this link to see where the building is. It's behind the Happy Dogs Daycare right where Jefferson & Illinois Rd split as you're heading west out of downtown and towards Jefferson Pointe.

Rain Policy: The weather is looking great. Should rain pop up, remember that this event is rain or shine and we'll run in the rain if we have to. The only reason we would cancel is in the case of lightning.

October 7th Event Swag: We'll have brand new Team NL Night Moves t-shirts, new socks, and a variety of our other items. Runners will have their choice of one item. Everything will be for sale that night in case you want to purchase a different item. Everything will be $10 the night of the event - $12 online at other times.

If you have any questions, please let us know. See you tomorrow night.
