Night Moves 2016 - Race 1 Event Details
Team NeighborLink is grateful you’ve decided to participate in Race #1 of the 2016 Night Moves Running Series. It takes a curious, self-motivated, and adventurous person to volunteer with NeighborLink Fort Wayne, and we’ve learned it takes those same traits to find our Team NeighborLink events exciting and worth trying. Night Moves will be all of the above with the right amount of security, direction, and organization to make sure every aspect that can be controlled, runs smoothly.
Below are some final details about the event that should give you direction. If you have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can.
Check-In/Start Location: Holiday Inn IPFW has graciously welcomed us to their hotel and given us a room just to the left of the main entrance to check in and gather before we head out. Please visit this room to check in, pay if you didn't online, sign our waiver, and grab your thank you gift. Address is 4111 Paul Shaffer Drive
Event Timing: Check-In opens at 9:20p, Race Welcome & Final Instructions, 9:50p - Race Starts at 10:05p
Bathrooms: There will be options at the Holiday Inn
Sponsors: Holiday Inn has truly welcomed us by giving us a meeting room, providing water, and letting us hangout in their lobby after the event for FREE. They're fantastic & completely welcoming. IPFW has also been welcoming and given us permission to run through the campus while making sure we have a great event. Thanks IPFW!!!
Course Details: Race starts at the Holiday Inn and will weave through the gravel paths around the PLEX and then across the IPFW bridge. Once on campus, you'll take the greenway around the backside of the campus and then cut through campus back to the bridge. Once across the bridge, the finish line will be the hotel after a 200 yard gravel path. Expect some potentially damp gravel and a little mud on some of the course. The rest is pavement.
Course Map: See the picture below. The course is going be fantastic.
Course Marking & Direction: We will have a dozen cyclists with flashing lights riding with the runners who will know the course. There are also volunteers at every turn with flashlights pointing you in the right direction. There will also be some glow sticks on stakes in some areas and if you follow those, you'll be in good shape in those sections. You won't get too lost if you do get lost.
Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be cars and traffic to be aware of and be courteous to. However, 90% is closed to traffic, so you should have little issue. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.
Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the first male and female runners get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.
Winners: We have a fancy custom engraved hammer trophy for the winning Male and Female runners. They’re sweet!
Parking: There should be adequate parking at the Holiday Inn and there should be some overflow parking at the bank across the street. As always, try to carpool to save parking spaces and be friends.
Rain Policy: The forecast looks fantastic. If for some reason the event needs to be canceled due to weather, we will give each participant the opportunity take a refund, transfer to a different Night Moves date, apply it towards Team NL gear, or just let it be a donation to NeighborLink.
May 13th Event Swag: We'll have Team NL Night Moves t-shirts, brand new water bottles, and socks available. Each runner will have their choice of one item. Everything will be for sale that night in case you want to purchase a different item. Everything will be $10 the night of the event. $12, online at other times.
