Night Moves 2016 - Race 2 Event Details

Team NeighborLink is grateful you’ve decided to participate in Race #2 of the 2016 Night Moves Running Series. It takes a curious, self-motivated, and adventurous person to volunteer with NeighborLink Fort Wayne, and we’ve learned it takes those same traits to find our Team NeighborLink events exciting and worth trying. Night Moves will be all of the above with the right amount of security, direction, and organization to make sure every aspect that can be controlled, runs smoothly.

Below are some final details about the event that should give you direction. If you have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can. Invite your friends to join you last minute. We still have some space available.

Event Proceeds: 100% of the proceeds from this race will go to helping a recipient named Veronica with a roof project we’re working. The funding we raise will help offset the material cost for that project.

Check-In/Start Location: JK O'Donnells has graciously welcomed us back again this year. We’ll meet up behind the building in their patio area.  Please visit this area to check in, pay if you didn't online, sign our waiver, and grab your thank you gift.

Event Timing: Check-In opens at 9:15p, Race Welcome & Final Instructions, 9:50p - Race Starts at 10:05p

Bathrooms: There will be options within JK O'Donnells

Sponsors: JK’s is great to work with and they’re offering 1/2 priced appetizers for event participants as long as you get your order in before the kitchen closes at 11p. (RUN FAST) 3 Rivers Running Company is a tremendous supporter of Night Moves and Team NL. They’ll be on hand with a few head lamp options to check out and news about what’s going on at the store.

Course Details: The race course is almost identical to last year’s course at JKs. It was such a great course we didn’t want to change it up much. We’ll weave northwest toward Aunt Millies, cruise through Columbia St and down to Headwater park West. Then over/under the MLK bridge and through Lawton Park before coming back across the MLK bridge and weaving our way north to Wayne and around the courthouse.

Headlamps: This course is pretty well lit and a headlamp isn't necessary, but if having one makes you feel more comfortable, please bring it.

Course Map: See the picture below. The course is going be fantastic.

Course Marking & Direction: We will have over 20 volunteers/cyclists with flashing lights riding with the runners at every turn with flashlights pointing you in the right direction. You won't get too lost if you do get lost.

Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be cars and traffic to be aware of and be courteous to. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.

Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the first male and female runners get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.

Winners: We have a fancy custom engraved paint brush trophy for the winning Male and Female runners. Our goal with winner trophies is to give you a tool that you’ll actual use at home and/or on a NL project one day in the future.

Parking: Find a spot downtown wherever you can.

Rain Policy: The forecast looks fantastic. If for some reason the event needs to be canceled due to weather, we will give each participant the opportunity take a refund, transfer to a different Night Moves date, apply it towards Team NL gear, or just let it be a donation to NeighborLink.

June 3rd Event Swag: We'll have new Team NL Night Moves t-shirts & tank tops, brand new water bottles, and socks available. Each runner will have their choice of one item. Everything will be for sale that night in case you want to purchase a different item. Everything will be $10 the night of the event. $12, online at other times.

If you have any questions, please let us know. See you tomorrow night.
