2016 Night Moves #4 - Event Details

Team NeighborLink is grateful you’ve decided to participate in Race #4 of the 2016 Night Moves Running Series. It takes a curious, self-motivated, and adventurous person to volunteer with NeighborLink Fort Wayne, and we’ve learned it takes those same traits to find our Team NeighborLink events exciting and worth trying. Night Moves will be all of the above with the right amount of security, direction, and organization to make sure every aspect that can be controlled, runs smoothly.

Below are some final details about the event that should give you direction. If you have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can. Invite your friends to join you last minute. We still have some space available.

Event Proceeds: The funds raised from Friday’s race will be used by NeighborLink Fort Wayne to help get a new roof for a homeowner in need. Additionally, $5.00 of every registration fee will be donated toward Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House. We are excited to be working side-by-side with this fellow non-profit in order to support each other’s missions and raise awareness for both our causes.

Check-In/Start Location: The race will be starting from Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House on the Lutheran Hospital campus. We will meet in the circle drive at the entrance of Mad Anthonys. Please visit this area to check in, pay if you didn't online, sign our waiver, and grab your thank you gift.

Pay Online: You may have signed up but didn’t pay online. You can pay the night of or you can take care of that online here

Event Timing: Check-In opens at 9:15 PM, Race Welcome & Final Instructions at 9:45 PM, and Race Starts at 10:00 PM

Bathrooms: There will be options within Mad Anthonys.

Sponsors: Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House is graciously allowing us to use their space as a venue for this Night Moves run. After the race, they will be providing cookies for the participants.

Course Details: Since we are starting this race at Mad Anthonys, the course will be unique in that it allows us to explore the southwest side of the city. To summarize, we will be running on the Towpath Trail around part of Lutheran Hospital’s campus, heading west on the Aboite Center sidewalk over I-69, through the surrounding neighborhoods, and then back to Mad Anthonys. We’re excited for this new route!

Headlamps: This course is pretty well lit and a headlamp isn't necessary, but if having one makes you feel more comfortable, please bring it.

Course Marking & Direction: We will have volunteers/cyclists with flashing lights at every turn, pointing you in the right direction. We will also have some glow stick stakes marking certain parts of the route to help guide you. You won't get too lost if you do get lost.

Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be cars and traffic to be aware of and be courteous to. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.

Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the first male and female runners get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.

Winners: We have engraved box knives as trophies for the winning male and female runners. Our goal with winner trophies is to give you a tool that you’ll actually use at home and/or on a NL project one day in the future.

Parking: In the parking lot near Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House.

Rain Policy: The forecast looks fantastic. If for some reason the event needs to be canceled due to weather, we will give each participant the opportunity take a refund, transfer to a different Night Moves date, apply it towards Team NL gear, or just let it be a donation to NeighborLink.

June 24th Event Swag: We'll have Team NL Night Moves t-shirts, water bottles, and socks available. Runners will have their choice of one item. Everything will be for sale that night in case you want to purchase a different item. Everything will be $10 the night of the event - $12 online at other times.

If you have any questions, please let us know. See you tomorrow night.
