Night Moves #7 - The Golden - Event Details
Tomorrow night is Race #7 of the 2016 Night Moves Running Series. It takes a curious, self-motivated, and adventurous person to volunteer with NeighborLink Fort Wayne, and we’ve learned it takes those same traits to find our Team NeighborLink events exciting and worth trying. Night Moves will be all of the above with the right amount of security, direction, and organization to make sure every aspect that can be controlled, runs smoothly. We're looking forward to seeing many of you there!
Below are some final details about the event that should give you direction. If you have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can. Invite your friends to join you last minute. We still have some space available.
Event Proceeds: The funds raised from Friday’s race will be used by NeighborLink Fort Wayne to help get a new roof for a homeowner in need. Night Moves has helped cover the funding gap on 4 roof replacements in 2016 so far.
Check-In/Start Location: The race will be starting from The Golden. We will meet right out front of the main entrance or just inside the lobby area near their front door. Please visit this area to check in, pay if you didn't online, sign our waiver, and grab your thank you gift.
Pay Online: You may have signed up but didn’t pay online. You can pay the night of or you can take care of that online here.
Event Timing: Check-In opens at 9:15 PM, Race Welcome & Final Instructions at 9:45 PM, and Race Starts at 10:00 PM
Bathrooms: There will be options within The Golden.
Sponsors: The Golden is graciously allowing us to use their space as a venue for this Night Moves. They will be providing some fancy beverages for you to enjoy after your run.
Course Details: This is the greatest hits of Downtown. We'll weave East to Barr St, through the arts campus, and then towards the Old Fort. We'll continue on the greenway to Lawton park and then over the MLK bridge towards Headwaters pavilion. We'll cross the street to the West side and then back over the MLK bridge. We wanted to hit the Middle Waves concert. From the MLK bridge, we'll head West to the Wells St bridge on the greenway and then head south back towards Harrison and Calhoun. Then, we'll loop down Berry to Broadway and then back to the Golden for the final challenge.
Headlamps: The course is pretty well lit other than the greenway ares, which will be really dark. You'll want a headlamp or a flashlight to feel comfortable. We'll have a few flashlights you can use if you don't have one. Just ask when you check in.
Course Marking & Direction: We will have volunteers/cyclists with flashing lights at every turn, pointing you in the right direction. We will also have some flashing blue glow stick stakes marking certain parts of the route to help guide you where we don't have volunteers. You won't get too lost if you do get lost.
Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be cars and traffic to be aware of and be courteous to. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.
Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the first male and female runners get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.
Winners: We have Golden engraved hammers as trophies for the winning male and female runners. Our goal with winner trophies is to give you a tool that you’ll actually use at home and/or on a NL project one day in the future.
Parking: There are parking lots and street parking around The Golden.
Rain Policy: The weather is looking iffy and showing possible rain. This event is rain or shine and we'll run in the rain if we have to. The only reason we would cancel is in the case of lightning.
September 16 Event Swag: We'll have Team NL Night Moves t-shirts, water bottles, and socks available. Runners will have their choice of one item. Everything will be for sale that night in case you want to purchase a different item. Everything will be $10 the night of the event - $12 online at other times.
If you have any questions, please let us know. See you tomorrow night.
