NIGHT MOVES 2017 - RACE 1 EVENT DETAILS - JK O'DONNELL'S

Team NeighborLink is grateful you’ve decided to participate in Race #1 of the 2017 Night Moves Season. It takes a curious, self-motivated, and adventurous person to volunteer with NeighborLink Fort Wayne, and we’ve learned it takes those same traits to find our Team NeighborLink events exciting and worth trying. This years Night Moves will be all of the above with the right amount of security, direction, and organization to make sure every aspect that can be controlled, runs smoothly.

Below are some final details about the event that should give you direction. If you have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can. Invite your friends to join you last minute. We still have some space available.

Event Proceeds: 100% of the proceeds from this race will go to helping a single mom named Chris, who needs a couple of doors and windows replaced in her home. You can view her project here: https://www.nlfw.org/project/11634

Check-In/Start Location: JK O'Donnells has graciously welcomed us back again this year. We’ll meet up behind the building in their patio area.  Please visit this area to check in, pay if you didn't online, sign our waiver, and grab your thank you gift.

Event Timing: Check-In opens at 9:15p, Race Welcome & Final Instructions, 9:50p - Race Starts at 10:05p

Bathrooms: There will be options within JK O'Donnells

Sponsors: JK’s is great to work with and they’re offering 1/2 priced appetizers for event participants as long as you get your order in before the kitchen closes at 11:15pm. (RUN FAST) 3 Rivers Running Company is also a tremendous supporter of Night Moves and Team NL. They’ll be on hand with a few gear options to check out and news about what’s going on at the store.

Course Details: The race course is a little bit different from previous years at JKs. You can expect to run through West Central, pass by Henry's, cross an old bridge or two, see the arts campus, and finish in the alley per usual.

Headlamps & Flashlights: This course is pretty well lit and a headlamp isn't necessary, but if having one makes you feel more comfortable, please bring it.

Course Map: Trust me... the course is going be fantastic.

Course Marking & Direction: We will have over 20 volunteers/cyclists with flashing lights pointing you in the right direction. For some of the sections of the course, we will also have glow sticks to help guide you along.

Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be cars and traffic to be aware of and courteous to. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.

Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the first male and female runners get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.

Winners: We have a fancy custom engraved shovel for the winning Male and Female runners. Our goal with winner trophies is to give you a tool that you’ll actual use at home and/or on a NL project one day in the future.

Parking: Find a spot downtown wherever you can. Free parking at meters.

Rain Policy: It's a rain or shine event unless severe weather blows in. The forecast looks fantastic as of now. If for some reason the event needs to be canceled due to severe weather, we will give each participant the opportunity take a refund, transfer to a different Night Moves date, apply it towards Team NL gear, or just let it be a donation to NeighborLink.

NeighborLink Swag: We'll have new Team NL t-shirts, tank tops, and socks available to purchase. It is our goal this year to lower the cost of entry for our racers. By doing this you can buy, at a discounted rate, the gear you would really want and actually wear at the event.

If you have any questions, please let us know. See you tomorrow night.
