NIGHT MOVES 2017 | RACE 3 EVENT DETAILS | JUNK DITCH BREWING CO.
Team NeighborLink is grateful you’ve decided to participate in Race #3 of the 2017 Night Moves season!
Below are some final details about the event that should give you some direction. If you sill have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can. If you still have friends that want to join, encourage them to show up and we will try and place them on a team with others that show up on the day of as well.
Event Proceeds: 100% of the proceeds from this run will go toward a new roof project. Judy Cunningham is a senior who has needed a roof for some time now. We will be using the money from this Night Moves as well as some of our athlete ambassador campaigns to help pay for a new roof. You can view her project here: https://www.nlfw.org/project/8017
Event Timing: Check-In opens at 8:15p, Race Welcome & Final Instructions, 8:50p - Race Starts at 9:05p
Bathrooms: There will be options within Junk Ditch.
Sponsors: Junk Ditch is a great friend of ours and we are excited about them hosting such a unique Night Moves race. They will have $3 house beers for runners all evening that can be purchased inside along with any food you may want. NL will have water coolers on site as well.
Course Details: The race course is simple and fun. A while ago, we got the crazy idea of doing a mini-marathon distance relay event. Teams of up to 4 runners will take on a 1 to 1.5 mile out and back course. We have decided there are only two major rules:
- Each runner must run at least two laps and
- Runners can only do 1-lap at a time.
This should be a test of strategy and endurance! The course will be a basic .5 miles out and .5 miles back. When you get back, tag the next runner on your team. Repeat this until the team as a whole has collectively completed the mini-marathon distance.
Headlamps & Flashlights: We would recommend bringing a flashlight or headlamp as you feel comfortable. There are portions of the course that will be poorly lit. We will do our best to keep putting out glow sticks, but please bring a flashlight or headlamp if it makes you feel more comfortable. We will also have a few cyclists doing a continual survey of the course to help people along the way.
Course Map: We will begin at the picnic table area of Junk Ditch. You will then make your way to Swinney Park and go out to a distance, turn around, and come back to tag the next person on your team. We will have plenty of lights to light the way!
Course Marking & Direction: We will have plenty of volunteers/cyclists with flashing lights pointing you in the right direction. For some of the sections of the course, we will have glow sticks to help guide you along. Also, please be aware and respectful of other runners.
Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be a few streets to watch for cars and traffic. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.
Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the top teams get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.
Winners: We have a fancy custom engraved hammer for the winning team. Our goal with winner trophies is to give you a tool that you’ll actual use at home and/or on a NL project one day in the future.
Parking: Junk Ditch has some spots in their parking lot we can use. There are also a few nearby overflow lots and street parking along Main. Please be courteous as there are some private parking locations that belong to nearby homeowners and other businesses.
Rain Policy: The forecast should hold out for this race. We expect a few thunderstorms during the day, but it looks like it will clear up that night for our event. If for some reason the event needs to be canceled due to weather, we will give each participant the opportunity take a refund, transfer to a different Night Moves date, apply it towards Team NL gear, or just let it be a donation to NeighborLink.
NeighborLink Swag: We'll have new Team NL t-shirts, tank tops, and socks available to purchase. It is our goal this year to lower the cost of entry for our racers. By doing this you can buy, at a discounted rate, the gear you would really want and actually wear at the event.
If you have any questions, please let us know. See you tomorrow night.
