NIGHT MOVES | RACE 4 | THE GOLDEN
Team NeighborLink is grateful you’ve decided to participate in Race #4 of the 2017 Night Moves season!
Below are some final details about the event that should give you some direction. If you sill have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can. If you still have friends that want to join, encourage them to show up!
Event Proceeds: 100% of the proceeds from this run will go toward a new furnace for Michael. His basement was flooded and he was in need of a new furnace. We will be sure to post pictures of the completed project for you to see what your efforts went toward.
Event Timing: Check-In opens at 9:15p, Race Welcome & Final Instructions, 9:50p - Race Starts at 10:05p
Bathrooms: There will be options within The Golden.
Sponsors: The Golden and its people have been long time friends of NeighborLink. We had such a great time last year at this venue, they were happy to have us back. You can look forward to a great venue and great people! They have offered to provide post race beer in coolers out front and NL will have water coolers on site as well. We do ask that you respect that they will still have their dining area open for normal business. If you sit at a table, it will be assumed that you're ordering food.
Course Details: The race course is simple and fun. You can expect to run from the center of downtown to one of the far edges of downtown. We have planned a course that is simple in design, yet allows you to see another half of downtown we have yet to tour this season. Hopefully with a few straightaways that will allow you to push the past a little. Bring a flashlight!!
Headlamps & Flashlights: We would HIGHLY recommend bringing a flashlight or headlamp as you feel comfortable. There are portions of the course that will be poorly lit. We will do our best to keep putting out glow sticks, but please bring a flashlight or headlamp if it makes you feel more comfortable. We will also have a few cyclists doing a continual survey of the course to help people along the way.
Course Map: We will begin in the loading alley of The Golden at 10:05 and party all the way down Wayne... breeze through school and make the return trip for an uphill battle at the end.
Course Marking & Direction: We will have plenty of volunteers/cyclists with flashing lights pointing you in the right direction. For some of the sections of the course, we will have glow sticks to help guide you along. Also, please be aware and respectful of other runners.
Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be streets to watch for cars and traffic. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own.
Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the top teams get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.
Winners: We have a fancy custom hammer for the winning team. Our goal with winner trophies is to give you a tool that you’ll actual use at home and/or on a NL project one day in the future.
Parking: Downton has free meter parking after 5pm, so that is a great option. You can also park in a few nearby garages, but it does require you to "take the ticket" and pay for your spot.
Rain Policy: The forecast should hold out for this race. We expect it to be overcast during the day, but it looks like it will clear up that night for our event. It should be a cool mid-60's at the time of the race. If for some reason the event needs to be canceled due to weather, we will give each participant the opportunity take a refund, transfer to a different Night Moves date, apply it towards Team NL gear, or just let it be a donation to NeighborLink.
NeighborLink Swag: We'll have new Team NL t-shirts, tank tops, and socks available to purchase. It is our goal this year to lower the cost of entry for our racers. By doing this you can buy, at a discounted rate, the gear you would really want and actually wear at the event.
