Team NeighborLink is grateful you’ve decided to participate in Race #1 of the 2018 Night Moves season!

Below are some final details about the event that should give you some direction. If you sill have questions not being answered, send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can. If you still have friends that want to join, encourage them to show up!

Event Proceeds: 100% of the proceeds from this run will go toward a new furnace for Michael. His basement was flooded and he was in need of a new furnace. We will be sure to post pictures of the completed project for you to see what your efforts went toward.

Check-In/Start Location: YMCA Central Branch in the North parking lot. We will start here and end here. Click this link for a google map location:

Event Timing: Check-In opens at 8:15p, Race Welcome & Final Instructions, 8:50p - Race Starts at 9:00pm

Bathrooms: There will be options within The YMCA.

Sponsors:  YMCA Central Branch and its people have been long time friends of NeighborLink. In 2018 YMCA and Neighorlink are partnering together.  You can look forward to a great venue and great people! They have offered walk throughs and tours of the Central Branch to those looking to join the YMCA.

Course Details: The race course is simple and fun. You can expect to run from the center of downtown to one of the far edges of downtown. We have planned a course that is simple in design, yet allows you to see another half of downtown we have yet to tour this season. Hopefully with a few straightaways that will allow you to push the past a little. Bring a flashlight!!

Headlamps & Flashlights: We would HIGHLY recommend bringing a flashlight or headlamp as you feel comfortable. There are portions of the course that will be poorly lit. We will do our best to keep putting out glow sticks, but please bring a flashlight or headlamp if it makes you feel more comfortable. We will also have a few cyclists doing a continual survey of the course to help people along the way.

Course Map: We will begin on Barr St and head north.... breeze through a local park and make the return trip with a winding return route.

Course Marking & Direction: We will have plenty of volunteers/cyclists with flashing lights pointing you in the right direction. For some of the sections of the course, we will have glow sticks to help guide you along. Also, please be aware and respectful of other runners.

Open Course: This course will be an open course, which means there will be streets to watch for cars and traffic. Be aware of traffic and use your common sense when crossing streets just like you do when you run on your own. Keep in mind Germanfest will be going on so be mindful and polite if there are groups of people.

Timing & Results: We will have a mass start and a running stopwatch as a means to make sure the top teams get an official time and we can determine a winner, but we won’t have a fancy timing system to keep your time for you. This is a fun run and not a competitive event. If timing is important to you, then I imagine you already have a running watch or GPS that will keep that for you.

Winners: We have a fancy pair of customized hammers for the winning male and female. Our goal with winner trophies is to give you a tool that you’ll actual use at home and/or on a NL project one day in the future.

Parking: Downton has free meter parking after 5pm, so that is a great option. You can also park in the parking lot across from the YMCA on Barr street.

Rain Policy: The forecast looks like a chaince of rain. The event will still go on if we have some showers, but we do take everyones safety into consideration and will cancel the event if it is storming bad enough.  It should be mid-70's at the time of the race. If for some reason the event needs to be canceled due to weather, we will give each participant the opportunity to transfer to a different Night Moves date or just let it be a donation to NeighborLink.

NeighborLink Swag: We'll have new socks available to purchase as well as loads of other great NL gear. It is our goal this year with free entry for our racers to sell more gear and encourage donations. By doing this you can buy, at a discounted rate, the gear you would really want and actually wear at the event.
