HOT LAPS - Short Track MTB & X-Country Running Series

2019 Dates: JULY: 2 / 9/ 16 / 23

Event Overview

"HOT LAPS" Short Track MTB & X-Country Running Series at Franke Park is coming back for 2019. Mark your summer Tuesday Nights down and get ready to experience the thrill of short track mountain biking and x-country running.

SHORT TRACK RACING, which has also been called “dirt criterium,” has riders race at a high intensity pace on a 1-2 mile closed course for 20 to 30 minutes. The first to finish the predetermined number of laps, wins. The course weaves up and around the Derby Hill area at Franke Park. We will plan to have 2-3 different courses over the 6 weeks again this year.

We have a variety of categories, two race waves, each night during the 6-week series. JUNIORS (14 & under) race FREE. So, get your kids out and come race. The Junior categories are designed for kids that have a bike with gears, can ride a mile on uneven terrain and are comfortable in a race format. Your younger kids are welcome to bring their bikes to ride the course in-between races or around the area as long as they’re supervised. We want to create a fun and safe family vibe.

X-COUNTRY FUN RUN is like an old school cross country running event, except its just for fun (and a chance for prizes), but also an excellent workout! Come out from 5:30-6:30 and run as many laps as you can or want to. If you pre-register for the entire series, we’ll track the number of laps you run and at the end of the series you’ll be entered into a drawing for a chance to win sweet swag and prizes.

We will grill out, hangout, and have late enough start times for our surrounding area friends to make it out! (Warsaw, Indy, Goshen?!) Everyone is welcome to bring a food item to share if you choose.

We promise it will be worth $10. TNL works hard to make sure to create experiences worth showing up for. And 100% of the registration fees goes back to a project - usually a wheelchair ramp, water heater or roof for a vulnerable homeowner in need. If you want to come out and help, but not ride or run, we always need volunteers. You can sign up to volunteer as well.

Sign up for the full 4-week series and you’ll be entered into a drawing to win gift cards.
Sign up online for individual races and be entered into a drawing for a pair of our colorful Team NL socks (Feetures brand).
